Purpose

Procures or purchases materials, parts and products at the best rate to meet manufacturing and prototyping needs.  Responsible for but not limited to maintaining positive supplier relationships, process delivery, and target inventory levels.  Evaluates price, quality, services support, availability, reliability, trend and other selection criteria in making purchase decisions. Responsible for price negotiations. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support Engineering by providing supplier quotation information, i.e. pricing, delivery, and technical data for making business decisions.
  • Support Sales and Marketing by providing supplier quotations to support quotations on new programs 
  • Support new business launches by ensuring suppliers are meeting deliverables, i.e. quality, delivery, and timing
  • Direct and indirect material sourcing for advanced and current program activities / needs
  • Negotiate fair pricing with suppliers 
  • Coordinate direct buy components
  • Issue all contracts including but not limited to; Letters of Intent (Nomination Letters), Purchase Orders for Capital Equipment, Supplier Tooling (for production), and Production Part Purchase Orders
  • Facilitating new RFQs and new internal tracking follow up actions for design changes i.e. engineering work orders and engineering change orders 
  • Development of supplier tool payment schedules
  • Coordinate and execute all prototype orders
  • Follow up on capital equipment requirements, i.e. assembly equipment, line, etc.
  • Dissect BOM and send RFQ’s for BOM content
  • Communicate and document costs for purchased components to appropriate Program Management Team Members
  • Follow through on new business as it launches to ensure pricing remains as negotiated and program timing is adhered to.
  • Development of supplier tool payment schedules.
  • Negotiation of all commercial aspects with the supply base.
  • Coordinate and execute all prototype orders and prototype supplier component deliveries for 100% on time customer order and delivery to support Engineering and Program requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains controls to receive replacement items and/or credit on all returns to suppliers.
  • Develops and implements cost reduction strategy.
  • Responsible for supporting Operations JIT material requirements and keeping inventory at lowest levels without risk to eMatrix’s production schedule.
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, as necessary for the business with the supplier.
  • Manage purchasing requests and ensure proper translation to purchase orders.
  • Issue production parts and prototype parts approved purchase orders to suppliers and confirm receipt.
  • Work with the operations team and supplier partners to specify and design a material storage and handling strategy that minimizes inventory levels, movement and transport to the maximum degree possible.
  • Develop (where needed) and maintain inventory control systems.
  • Support other functions which need purchasing assistance and/or advice – such as engineering, quality, marketing, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant field
  • Experience in program purchasing roles preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills 
  • Must be computer literate and have experience in Microsoft Suite or Google Suit, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Experience with Odoo is preferred. 
  • Highly developed time management and follow up skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Self-starter, excellent people and problem solving skills, strong task ownership and superior work ethic
  • Must be able to relate & communicate well with people at all levels.
