CAD Designer
Reports to: Mechanical Engineer
Purpose
The CAD designer performs concept and package studies and design parts and assemblies for prototype and production applications. The designer also builds and repairs eMatrix’s Prototypes and takes active part in product and process improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct concept studies and develop energy systems’ packaging solutions
- Design and detail parts and assemblies (mechanical, electrical and thermal)
- Support and coordinate BOM, change and product configuration management
- Create Engineering Drawings
- Perform tolerance stack-ups, apply GD&T and do basic engineering calculations and simulations as required
- Assemble prototype packs and sub-assemblies
- Develop & review build instructions and drawings to ascertain proper assembly procedures
- Provide support and training to production employees for new product launches
- Familiar with standard automotive/battery concepts, practices, and procedures
- Follow processes, procedures and work instructions and propose modifications when needed
- Work with engineers and other designers to eliminate build problems
- Performs all duties according to safety procedures
Education & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as CAD designer
- Experience with commercially available CAD software
- Experience with Fusion360 is preferred
- Experience with battery systems design is preferred
- Experience using PLM software preferred
- Experience designing for injection molding, casting, sheet metal, wire harness is preferred
- 1+ years of hands-on assembly work experience preferred
- A certain degree of creativity and problem solving is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
Other Skills
- Good understanding of mechanical and material principles
- Good understanding of different production and fabrication methods
- Experience with MS Office Suite or Google Suite
- Fast learner
