Electrical Hardware Engineer


Reports to: CTO

Purpose

Develop and test prototype and production electronic hardware, including but not limited to, battery management systems, custom testing equipment, DC to DC converters, FET/IGBT based power switches. Perform all engineering duties related to the design, test, and release of electronic hardware. Create specifications for electronic hardware and work with other engineers to cascade relevant requirements to other systems and components. Assist in sourcing decisions and corporate strategies related to these components.

  • Design, prototype, and test complex electronic systems given high level requirements.
  • Create complete component specification from high level requirements.
  • Determine thermal system requirements for electronic components.
  • Lead design efforts for next generation electronic components suitable for high-volume production.
  • Assume all design and test responsibilities for all electronic components and related systems.
  • Do system and circuit analysis/simulation of complex electrical/electronic systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering is required. A Master, or Doctorate degree is a plus. 
  • Must have a thorough understanding of electric devices of various types and their fundamental principles of operation. 
  • Must be knowledgeable of power electronic circuits and their challenges for safe and robust implementation.
  • Understanding of EMC mitigation principles is desired.
  • Experience in designing hardware or embedded software for battery management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze circuits and systems is required.
  • Experience in solving manufacturing issues related to production design / documentation is preferred.
  • Experience with one or more of these pcb design programs: Eagle, Fusion 360, Kicad, Diptrace. Altium, or Orcad.
