Prototype Technician


Reports to: Engineering Manager

Purpose

Builds, maintains and repairs eMatrix’s Prototypes such as battery modules and packs. Responsible for preparing parts for module and pack assembly, assembling battery modules and packs, supporting testing and diagnosing of sub-assemblies, modules and packs. Works under general supervision. Takes active part in product and process improvement.

  • Review project instructions and drawings to ascertain proper assembly procedures.
  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical fixtures to support R&D and products.
  • Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design change proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control. 
  • Provide support and training to production employees for new product launches.
  • Familiar with standard automotive/battery concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Follow processes, procedures and work instructions and propose modifications when needed.
  • Work with engineers to eliminate build problems.
  • Performs all duties according to safety procedures.

Education & Experience

  • Requires 5+ years of experience as a mechanic or technician.
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Science degree desired.
  • A certain degree of creativity and problem solving is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Other Skills

  • Good aptitude to assembly of mechanical and electrical components and systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Microsoft Excel & Word or Google Sheets & Docs.
  • Ability to move up to 50 lbs.
  • Will be required to complete formal training in certain areas of specialty.
